Durable Power of Attorney
If you become ill or injured and can't take care of your own finances, someone else must step in to help. If you have a durable power of attorney, your designated agent or attorney-in-fact can help by taking actions for you, according to your wishes, until you are able to handle your own affairs or until your death. If you don’t have a durable power of attorney, your loved ones may need to file for a conservatorship, which could take a long time and be very expensive.
